About - Nature's Way Resources

About Us

Our journey over the years reflects our dedication to sustainability, innovation, and service to our community.

Nature’s Way Resources is a Texas-based leader in sustainable soil, compost, mulch, and organic waste recycling, serving gardeners, landscapers, homeowners, and communities throughout the Houston region and beyond.

Founded by the late John Ferguson, Nature’s Way Resources grew from his personal experience with the dangers of synthetic chemicals and his belief that healthier landscapes begin with healthier soil. After a severe reaction to a chemical fungicide in the 1980s, John became committed to developing safer, more natural approaches to horticulture. In 1993, he formally began Nature’s Way Resources, creating high-quality organic soil products and developing innovative ways to recycle organic waste into valuable resources.

Today, Nature’s Way Resources operates a large-scale organic recycling and soil production facility in Conroe, Texas, where locally collected green materials are transformed into composts, mulches, soil blends, and other gardening products. The company also operates a retail nursery and garden center featuring Texas native plants, fruit trees, seasonal plants, herbs, and other selections suited to the region.

Nature’s Way Resources is committed to working with nature rather than against it. Its mission centers on restoring and sustaining the Earth through organic practices, recycling, responsible resource use, and education. The company maintains a strict no-synthetics philosophy and focuses on natural and recycled materials that support healthy soil, healthy plants, and healthier communities.

Under the leadership of CEO Ian Ferguson, Nature’s Way Resources continues the work started by his father while expanding its focus on soil health, environmental stewardship, education, and sustainable landscaping. The company also works with schools, community organizations, environmental groups, and others to promote responsible organic waste management and healthier landscapes.

With more than three decades of experience, Nature’s Way Resources remains rooted in a simple idea: healthy soil is the foundation for healthy plants, people, and communities.
